1/2 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs, well beaten
2 cups thick sour cream
3 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp cardamom
Slivered almonds
Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs and blend well. Blend in cardamom. Mix soda with flour and add alternately with sour cream. Blend in slivered almonds.
Grease and flour 4 small loaf tins. Bake at 350F for 45 minutes. Cool. Slice into thin slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and toast at 300F oven until crisp and light brown, about 15 minutes on each side.
