Orange Pecan Scones
Makes 12
1/2 cup butter, softened to room temperature
1-3/4 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1/3 cup sugar
Grated zest of one orange
1/2 cup orange juice
1 egg, beaten
Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 Tbsp orange juice
12 pecan halves
Mix butter and flour with pastry cutter until it resembles coarse meal. Add remaining dry ingredients and orange zest and mix well. Add orange juice and egg and mix until just combined. Drop 12 equal mounds of dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake 375F oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Prepare glaze: combine sugar and orange juice, mix until smooth. Spread a small dab of glaze on each scone and top with pecan half.
