Heart Shape Waffles
5 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cardamom
1 cup flour
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Fresh lingonberries or other fruit
Whipped cream
In large bowl beat eggs and sugar on high speed until mixture forms ribbons when beaters are lifted from bowl, about 10 minutes. Beat in salt and cardamom. Sprinkle flour over surface of batter. Use a rubber spatula to fold in flour, then fold in sour cream and butter. Let mixture stand 10 minutes. Preheat heart-shape waffle iron. Pour about 3/4 cup batter onto center of waffle iron. Close top; bake 2-3 minutes until waffle is golden and crisp. Serve immediately with berries and whipped cream or cool waffles and serve cold. Makes about 8 waffles or 40 heart shaped pieces.
Delicious hot, but usually served cold in Norway.
