Forb Cookies
Forb Cookies, which I think is a typo for Fork Cookies, but it's what we've called them forever.
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 tsps ginger
2 tsps lemon extract
2 tsps cream of tartar
2 tsps soda in 1/8 cup hot water
3 cups flour
Mix in order given. Form into balls and flatten with fork. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
